End of Year Party / Staff Appreciation

The Chief Medical Director of Ebony Hospitals Limited, Port Harcourt, Dr. Innocent Ekwem has conferred long service awards on more than 10 staff of the hospital

who have served the hospital for 15 years and above. The award ceremony featured the presentation of two cars for the two longest serving staff who are retiring from the services of the hospital. The staff were the Chief Matron, Mrs. Ann Alozie who has been with the hospital for 32 years and the Chief Driver, Mr. Christopher who has served for 29 years.

Other staff who received Certificate of Recognition for their meritorious services to the hospital, were also given 32-inch flat screen television sets. The event which was the highpoint of the end of year ceremony for management and staff of the hospital took place on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the hospital premises, was witnessed by the Deputy Medical Director, Dr. Mrs. Ekwem among other dignitaries. According to Dr. Innocent Ekwem, the idea of rewarding staff for their long service and dedication to the hospital, was to encourage them to do more in the coming year.

Dr. Ekwem explained that it will be wrong to let retiring staff go without proper appreciation, adding that the retired staff and other staff have put in substantial amount of time in their work.

The Chief Medical Director said the success of the staff and the hospital has been as a result of God's benevolence, adding that since the staff have been with the hospital, it was not right that they be allowed to go home empty handed. He charged the staff to put in their best and trust God.

"The hospital was built on the foundation of God, we have been through a lot and it is all through their efforts”, he said.

In his opening remarks, the Clinical Director of the hospital, Dr. Vincent Otoh, described the end of year party for staff as a day of Thanksgiving because of God's blessings.

Dr. Otoh said the year 2021 was full of challenges, and a year in which God kept staff and management of Ebonyi hospital of the hospital in good health, and urged staff and visitors to the hospital to continue to comply with the covid-19 protocols.

In her valedictory speech, the retiring Chief Matron, Mrs. Ann Alozie said she enjoyed the 32 years she served in the hospital, and urged the staff and management to extend the cooperation to the incoming Chief Matron.

I did my job in the best interest of the hospital, I am retiring because, am becoming weak and can't keep up with the tasks of the job", she said.

She explained that working with the hospital has also helped to improve her standard

of life, and achieved some major milestones. Mrs. Alozie while commending Dr. Ekwem and his wife, for providing her the platform to practice her profession, also pledged to always offer consultancy services to the hospital at no cost.

The Ebony hospitals limited, established almost 40 years ago, has been able to handle some of the critical medical cases, which stood the hospital out as one of the top-class private hospitals in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
